Frontdoor Security Engineering Intern in Denver, Colorado

The Security Engineering team at Frontdoor builds and maintains the technology that helps keep our customer’s data secure by providing access management solutions for our application brands. We are looking to add members this fall through a security software development engineering internship.

You must be an analytical problem solver who enjoys diving into data, is able to interface with technical leadership and business stakeholders, and is excited to develop secure and compliant customer identity access management (IAM) solutions. What to Expect:

  • A paid internship where you will work with a high-energy team to work on impactful projects that help take the hassle out of owning a home. You’ll get the opportunity to build and improve production services that drive our customer experience or to develop an algorithm that help customers understand more about their home or help inform our business strategy. The internship will provide you with real-world experience that you won’t find in the classroom by leading and contributing to projects from start to finish.

Where You Will Work:

  • Internships will likely be remote, though we may include some travel to our engineering center in Denver, CO depending on travel guidance with respect to COVID-19.

What does our department do?

  • The Frontdoor IAM Security Engineering team develops the customer identity and access management (IAM) platform services that provide access, authentication and authorization services for our flagship applications.

  • We partner extensively with business stakeholders in product, marketing and operations teams to identify key opportunities.

  • Our tech stack includes Golang for backend and React for frontend.

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborating with colleagues from multidisciplinary science, engineering, and business backgrounds to optimize pricing and overall profitability.

  • Influencing leaders to make thoughtful data decisions to provide the most consistent and usable data for all teams across the company.

  • Designing and building microservices to deliver key IAM services for our platform and our customers.

  • Gaining real-world experience in designing, building, and deploying services to production to include security, testing, and alerting instrumentation.

Requirements:

  • An undergraduate student (junior or senior) or graduate student who is currently pursuing or has recently completed a degree in cybersecurity, computer science, applied mathematics, or related field.

  • Available to work 40 hours per week

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Golang, Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

  • Currently enrolled in Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions

  • A good understanding of information security standards & methodologies

  • Ability to distill security problems and drive toward creative solutions

  • Programming Skills : Go/javascript

  • Ability to write high quality code: reliable, efficient, easy to debug and maintain

  • Thorough understanding of authentication, authorization, and directory services

  • Adept at handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving skills and effective communication

  • Currently working towards an Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields with an expected graduation date between September 15, 2021 and September 15, 2022.

  • Previous internship experience is a plus

  • Self-starter who is comfortable operating somewhat independently

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.

  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and adapt quickly to change whilemaintaining a positive attitude.

  • Curiosity and ability to think creatively.
