Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant role works within the Corporate Accounting team of Frontdoor. Corporate Accounting is responsible for all accounting aspects of the company, establishing and maintaining adequate internal controls over financial reporting, and ensuring financials are compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and certain other statutory and regulatory reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant role is responsible for the financial processes around the recording of transactions and the timely preparation of accurate financial statements across multiple legal entities. Responsibilities:
Manage the close process for two of our home service plan brands; includes recording revenue, claims cost reserve, direct expenses. Compare and explain overall results versus plan and prior year. Provide reporting on contracts in force and other related metrics.
Manage the close process for our international subsidiaries (India and UK)
Perform monthly close tasks related to a captive insurance entity, legal entity allocations, and financial statement preparation regulated subsidiaries
Perform the cash settlement process between parent and subsidiaries
Perform restricted net assets calculations and compliance with state regulatory requirements
Monitor compliance with state regulatory agencies on filing annual reports, premium tax filings, and other related compliance filings
Coordinate the external audits/reviews of more than ten subsidiaries
Create reports and dashboards in Power BI, Looker, and Jedox (or similar tool) as needed
Perform and/or review monthly and quarterly account reconciliations in Blackline
Work with our Finance partners (Financial Planning and Analysis, Tax, Internal Audit, Treasury), Legal, HR/Payroll, Engineering, and external audit firms as needed
Additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing CPA license
Minimum 7 years of experience in general accounting and reporting
Financial literacy with working knowledge of general ledger, income statements, balance sheets, accounting terms and sub-ledgers
Ability to build good working relationships with others inside the organization
Research and analytical skills
Process improvement suggestions and ability to drive changes
Self-motivated and detail-oriented with ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills; JD Edwards (or other ERP system), Jedox (or other BI reporting tool) and Blackline reconciliation and task management tool
Financial presentation experience
Utilization of JDE and Jedox
Physical Role Requirements : Be seated at a computer intermittently for up to eight hours a day. Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers and phones. Repetitive motions using hands and digits; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.
Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
Minimum Experience required : 5+ years of related work history or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Other/State Specific
This role pays between $61,400 to $92,000 and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
