Responsibilities

Summary: (Fully Remote w/ some travel as needed.)

Frontdoor seeks a talented, energetic, entrepreneurial, and self‐motivated attorney with at least 3 years of relevant legal experience to serve as Corporate Counsel–IP, Marketing & Digital. This position will report directly to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel responsible for intellectual property (IP), marketing and technology. This position will be responsible for handling a wide range of matters related to the growth, operation, and further development of this dynamic business. The Corporate Counsel will support digital and cyber initiatives and advise on matters including artificial intelligence (AI), mobile apps, digital product development and cybersecurity. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of IP and advertising law and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), as well as experience with commercial contracts and technology and privacy questions. This role requires a person to possess a strong interest in working within a dynamic, fast-paced environment and the ability to work hand-in-hand within a cross-functional team on a daily basis.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high quality and effective legal advice and counsel to legal and business team members on a broad range of topics and matters.

  • Providing advice and counsel on intellectual property, privacy law and cybersecurity, advertising, e-commerce, general contracts, and other related legal matters.

  • Assisting in structuring, negotiating, and implementing commercial transactions such as licensing agreements, vendor contracts, strategic partnerships, software and technology development agreements, marketing alliances, and PR/advertising arrangements.

  • Overseeing outside counsel handling trademark and patent prosecution and managing IP enforcement and domain name matters worldwide.

  • Assisting in the compliance review of advertising and marketing materials, promotions and similar matters.

  • Identifying and analyzing legal issues, and effectively communicating sound, understandable legal recommendations to the appropriate business team members.

  • Actively participating in a collaborative manner in cross-functional business teams to identify, evaluate, and resolve complex business issues and risks.

  • Willingness to handle other projects and matters as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Working with and supervising outside counsel on various legal matters as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • J.D with 3-5 years legal experience in a law firm or in-house legal department handling intellectual property, advertising and/or technology-related matters (although willing to consider strong candidates with general corporate or litigation experience);

  • The ideal candidate would have experience in several of the following areas: Internet, digital and technology law; trademark law; advertising compliance; TCPA/telephone, email marketing and other privacy laws.

  • Must be tech-savvy and possess a strong willingness to learn.

  • Top academic record and large firm experience preferred.

  • Creative problem solver with customer focus and “can do” attitude.

  • Ability to multi-task with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines within a changing, fast‐paced environment.

  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Possess strong issue identification and problem-solving skills; and

  • Good standing in an applicable state bar.

Location:

  • Remote, but willingness to travel to business locations as required.

Compensation:

This role pays between $147,300 and $203,500 and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.At Frontdoor certain roles are eligible for additional rewards and incentives. Speak directly to your recruiter to learn more.
